The clearances get larger and the oil isn't forced or squeezed though the bearing and pressure is there for lower. Pumps rarely go bad because it's a basic mechanical device and ran by the crankshaft and always lubricated. Wash the engine, radiator, underside completely, then add the dye and drive a bit. Check in a darkened garage or with a blanket over the hood to make it a bit easier to see even small amounts of dye. If all else fails, pressure test it--with dye. If still nothing, compression test all cylinders for a gasket leak. A. My 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee needs to have the head gasket replaced and water pump. It is under 60,000 miles (59,400) but 5 1/2 years old. Jeep is not honoring the warrantee since it is over 5 years old. This is a very expensive repair. Any thoughts or advice? Is this common problem with Jeeps? Should I get rid of car? I鈥檓 wondering if more problems will appear. B. Big Daddy 1 路 #9 路 Mar 12, 2023. My 5.7 l Hemi is in a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. It started running in limp mode a few days ago and I took it to the local auto parts store. They ran a scan on it. The scan showed it has a bad MDS solenoid and it has a miss in one of the cylinders. I have a 2019 Trailhawk with the Hemi it has 3k miles on it. I鈥檝e noticed a ticking sound during certain rpm ranges while accelerating. Re: Wk/Wh 2005~ Grand Cherokee Common Faults And Issues. Now that I've replaced it (properly bled, used Zerex G05, new water pump, 190 degree tstat and hoses) the car seems to run hotter than it used to while at idle before the hydraulic The biggest drawback on the Jeep Hemi's is the crappy exhaust log manifolds, along with a heavy, restrictive cat. back. See pix below of the collectors off a 5.7 Jeep logs (left), a 5.7 Dodge/Chrysler logs (center) and my first set of custom headers on the right. Also, when you remove the MDS, you'll get DTC's and MIL's indicating it is not The owners manual says you can go up to 8K - you should only do this if you're going full synthetic, but even 8K is a safe bet with a good oil and filter. 3K changes are just wasting your money in a regular vehicle like this. If you were driving the piss out of a Hellcat, then 3K would make sense. B. Borhham Discussion starter. 496 posts 路 Joined 2010. #1 路 Feb 2, 2012. I just bought a 2005 WK with a 5.7L hemi and it drives great. The ONLY issue i have is when i floor the jeep from a first gear stomp, it hits rev limiter for a solid second or two before it shifts to the next gear. I have watched quite a few youtube videos with 0-60 runs and none of them shift slow. This stalling issue could be the Torque Converter locking up at idle. Have your "TC off" pressure checked by a transmission shop. If its 30 psi or lower your trans is due for a rebuild pump. It also explains the "stutter" since its trying to lock up at too low a speed. .
